Confidentiality & Privacy Policy
Sharon Gunda, LICSW
Your privacy is deeply respected, and the law safeguards the confidentiality of the relationship between you and your therapist. Information shared in therapy cannot be disclosed without your written consent.
However, there are specific exceptions to confidentiality where I am legally obligated to take action:
Suspected Abuse: If I suspect abuse or neglect of a child, dependent adult, or elder, I must report it to the appropriate authorities immediately.
Threats to Others: If you express a serious threat of harm to another person, I am required to notify law enforcement and inform the intended target.
Self-Harm: If you indicate an intention to harm yourself, I will make every effort to work with you to ensure your safety. If these efforts are unsuccessful, I may need to take additional steps, as permitted by law, to protect you.
Your trust is essential, and I am committed to handling all matters with care and professionalism.
